Pambudi emphasized that by endorsing the protocol, the two nations are reiterating their dedication to enhancing cooperation that is advantageous to both parties, particularly through enhanced market entry, investments, and the development of industries that add value.
Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that Indonesia is willing to procure oil from various nations, including Russia, in order to ensure stability in domestic fuel resources during times of uncertain global market conditions.
He was addressing a proposal put forth by the Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Tolchenov, concerning potential oil transactions with Jakarta. Lahadalia emphasized the importance for Indonesia to maintain adaptability in procuring crude oil amidst the tightening global energy market and highlighted that the government's main focus is guaranteeing fuel accessibility for its citizens.
He emphasized the importance of not being overly discriminatory in our selection process, stating that we have the flexibility to import from any country as long as we can ensure a consistent supply.
He further mentioned that Indonesia is engaging in competition with other purchasers in the international market, where constraints in supply and increasing prices have escalated the level of competition.

Lahadalia suggests that even companies who have initiated bids are at risk of being surpassed by competitors who are prepared to offer higher prices for the cargo at hand. He expressed that this evolving situation demonstrates sellers' focus on buyers who present more competitive pricing in the face of limited supply conditions.
Consequently, we are in the process of developing various options. The government's primary focus is to guarantee the continued availability of fuel within the country," he remarked. The protocol delineates agreements, advancements, and plans for further action in key sectors. The document will serve as a blueprint for executing technical agreements and maintaining the ongoing partnership between the two parties.
