Indonesia Teams Up With South Korea to Upgrade Emergency System

The Ministry of Home Affairs has initiated a partnership with South Korea's National Fire Agency to enhance and advance Indonesia's 112 Single Emergency Call Number (NTPD) system.
“The development of the 112 Single Emergency Call Number has become one of the government’s priorities in providing fast and integrated services,” Director General of Regional Administration Development, Safrizal Zakaria Ali, says.

He articulated the statement during his attendance alongside Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian as they welcomed Commissioner Seung Ryong Kim of South Korea’s National Fire Agency for an official visit.
This visit was in alignment with the minister's directive concerning initiatives to enhance and expand Indonesia’s 112 Single Emergency Call system.
Ali remarked that the visit provided a chance to enhance the national emergency service system, enabling it to be more cohesive, expedited, and responsive to diverse emergency scenarios.

During the event, Ali presented a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Seung Ryong Kim, a representative of South Korea’s National Fire Agency. This action marked the initial effort towards enhancing bilateral collaboration in the development of the national emergency service system.
According to Ali, the letter of intent (LoI) delineates the extent of collaboration, which encompasses the creation and enhancement of reporting infrastructures for fire control, disaster management, and emergency rescue operations in Indonesia. This agreement also involves technical consultations and the exchange of policy expertise between the two nations.
Furthermore, the collaboration extends to include joint involvement and assistance in organizing a variety of international exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and related activities focusing on firefighting and emergency rescue services.

“We are also opening opportunities to strengthen human resource capacity through education, training, and personnel exchange programs to improve the competence of firefighting and rescue personnel,” he remarks.
