Korea is participating in Anthropic’s Project Glasswing for cybersecurity, which will provide the nation with access to the company’s advanced AI model Claude Mythos as part of a larger effort to enhance global cyber protections.

Anthropic revealed that it is broadening the initiative, a joint cybersecurity effort centered on its Mythos model, to approximately 150 organizations in 15 countries, greatly increasing accessibility from its original group of about 50 institutions.

Mythos, launched in April, is an AI model with a focus on security aimed at detecting software vulnerabilities proficiently.

With the recent expansion, the Ministry of Science and ICT will be involved in the program via the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the government agency handling cyber incident response and digital security. “We are aware that KISA has joined Project Glasswing and secured access to the Mythos model,” a ministry official said.

KISA is anticipated to receive access to the Mythos Preview model along with associated tools, including Claude Security. Reports suggest that significant Korean firms, including Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and SK Telecom, are anticipated to be added as new partners, although their involvement has not yet been officially verified.

Samsung Electronics and SK hynix previously participated in Anthropic’s Series H funding round as strategic infrastructure collaborators. The total investment is claimed to be in the trillion-won range, with Samsung's share allegedly amounting to several trillion won.

Following the launch of Mythos, Anthropic has limited access to approved organizations because of worries that these capabilities might be exploited for harmful purposes. In Project Glasswing, the involved organizations utilize the framework for identifying vulnerabilities, applying patches, and conducting security tests prior to release.

The firm stated that initial users have already utilized Mythos to identify over 10,000 severe or critical vulnerabilities within a few weeks.

Anthropic characterized the swift growth as a reaction to increasing AI-based cyber threats and a dwindling opportunity for managed rollout, contending that defenses need to develop prior to the widespread availability of similar models.

“Within 6 to 12 months, we expect that many other AI companies will have Mythos-class models, and they could release them without safeguards that prevent misuse,” the company says. “In that world, cyberattacks could occur much more often, and in much more unpredictable forms. It’s imperative that cyber defenders adapt to maintain pace.”
