LS Electric to Showcase DC Solutions at Munich Energy Expo

LS Electric announced that it will showcase its complete range of power infrastructure products at EM-Power Europe 2026 in Munich next week, focusing on a European market where electrification policies are leading to a significant increase in grid investment.
The South Korean electrical equipment manufacturer will take part in EM-Power Europe — one of four exhibitions within The smarter E Europe, the largest energy industry expo in Europe — at Messe Munchen from June 23-25.
The exhibit theme of the company is "Comprehensive Solution Provider for an Enhanced Power System," featuring products that include ultra-high-voltage transformers as well as DC distribution solutions.

A 132kV, 90MVA ultra-high-voltage transformer will be the focal point of LS Electric's booth. The firm has been speeding up its entry into Europe's high-voltage sector after securing a 62 billion won ($45 million) supply contract for 400kV-class transformers with a German energy company earlier this year. A 1,500kVA cast-resin transformer and a 35kV medium-voltage switchgear unit will also be showcased.
LS Electric received Europe's Environmental Product Declaration certification for its distribution-grade cast-resin transformer last November — becoming the first Korean company in that product category — paving the way into Europe's green procurement market. The company intends to convert all insulation elements within its power equipment range to halogen-free substances by year-end to enhance its standing in the area.
LS Electric will additionally showcase a DC power package solution for European clients.

"We will emphasize our total power solution competitiveness from ultra-high voltage to distribution, and further consolidate our brand standing in Europe," an LS Electric official said. "We will accelerate our push into Europe — our next strategic market after North America — by strengthening our eco-friendly, high-efficiency solution lineup."

Earlier, LS Electric, focusing on electrical power equipment, industrial automation systems, and smart energy solutions, announced that it has secured a contract valued at 96 billion won ($64 million) to provide high-voltage switchgear for a microgrid system at a data center in the US, marking its latest success in the rapidly expanding North American power infrastructure sector.
The agreement encompasses the provision of 38kV-class high-voltage distribution panels intended for continuous 24-hour power functionality. Delivery is planned to commence in December this year and finish in August 2027. The customer was not identified by the company. The recognition arises as a rise in AI usage and cloud infrastructure development has led to significant increases in data center energy consumption throughout North America. The need for on-site microgrids—autonomous systems that produce, store, and deliver electricity without relying on the primary grid—has surged, as data center operators encounter delays of three to five years for utility grid connections in the US.

LS Electric stated that it is part of a larger transition in its business model, evolving from just supplying equipment to becoming a comprehensive smart energy provider that includes renewable energy and gas generation. The Korean firm also emphasized the efficiency improvements from direct current distribution systems, which may decrease power conversion losses by 10 to 15 percent in microgrid settings.
