Michelin Hires Shantanu Deshpande As India MD

The largest French tire manufacturer Michelin announced that Shantanu Deshpande has been named managing director of its Indian business. His base of operations will be Pune. Deshpande had a variety of leadership positions in sales and marketing over his 23 years with Michelin, the firm said in a statement, both in India and in other countries like North America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

He had worked as an Area Sales Manager for Michelin India from 1999. Later, in 2007, he was given the position of India Marketing Director and played a key role in building the business's presence there.

Deshpande worked as the vice president of marketing for a Michelin subsidiary in North America from 2012 to 2015. According to the tire company, he served as Director of B2B Marketing for the Africa, India, and Middle East region from 2015 to 2020.

Shantanu has been the Michelin Group's Urban Business Line's Global Marketing Director since 2020. He is headquartered in Bangkok. With its global headquarters in Clermont-Ferrand, France, Michelin runs 67 tire manufacturing plants that collectively produced over 167 million tires in 2022. Michelin is present in 175 countries.

A worldwide tire manufacturer, Michelin is headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is bigger than both Goodyear and Continental and is the world's second-largest tire maker after Bridgestone.
