Party General Secretary Departs for State Visit to Cambodia

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, To Lam, along with a distinguished delegation from Vietnam, commenced their journey from the capital Vientiane of Laos on February 6 for an official visit to Cambodia.

This visit was extended to them by King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni.

General Secretary To Lam will be participating in multiple high-level meetings during his visit, including co-chairing the meeting between the Politburo of the CPV Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party.

Additionally, he will co-chair a meeting between the three Party leaders of Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Laos at the invitation of Cambodian People’s Party President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on February 6.

The official delegation comprises individuals such as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, as well as Politburo member Le Minh Hung, who serves as the Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission.

Additionally, Politburo member Bui Thi Minh Hoai, who is also a Party Central Committee Secretary and President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, is part of the delegation.

General Phan Van Giang, the Minister of National Defence and a Politburo member, along with General Luong Tam Quang, the Minister of Public Security and another Politburo member, are included in the group.

 

The delegation also features Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu, among other dignitaries. The state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam holds particular political importance, communicating a powerful message from the Party and State of Vietnam, as well as from the General Secretary himself, regarding the continued emphasis on and prioritization of the cultivation of positive neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and enduring sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The visit serves to strengthen the already strong political ties between Viet Nam and Cambodia and also gives impetus to advancing comprehensive cooperation between the two nations and the three parties and countries of Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Laos. This will contribute to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
