TCC Steel Chairman Named ‘Person of the Year’ by UNESCO

TCC Steel declared on the 9th that Chairman Bong Rak Son was appointed as the recipient of the UNESCO Seoul Association's '2025 Person of the Year' award.

The UNESCO Seoul Association has been awarding the prestigious 'Person of the Year' recognition since 1989 to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in intellectual domains like education, science, and culture, as well as made substantial contributions to global cooperation and peace efforts.

Till date, the accolade has honored individuals from diverse fields in Korea, spanning culture, arts, athletics, and business.

Chairman Son was acknowledged for his dedication to embodying sustainable social development, a fundamental principle of UNESCO, by way of his accomplishments in industrial innovation, nurturing of talent, and global impact.

Chairman Son, as the head of TCC Steel, has placed a strong emphasis on corporate social responsibility. He is recognized for his introduction of cutting-edge technologies within the environmental field, as well as his successful outcomes in ESG management.

He has successfully positioned TCC Steel as the premier provider of surface-treated steel sheets in Korea, known for its competitive edge on a global scale in the realm of industrial innovation.

 

His efforts have also played a key role in promoting eco-friendly industries through the expansion of nickel-plated steel sheet production for use in electric vehicle battery manufacturing.

As the chairman of the Woosuk Cultural Foundation, he has significantly extended scholarship programs and shown a strong commitment to consistently and systematically fostering the development of talent.
