Top Vietnamese Leader Begins Official Visit to Thailand

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam, along with his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and a senior Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Udon Thani International Airport in Udon Thani province, commencing their three-day official visit to Thailand.
At the airport, Thai Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Watcharaphon Khaokham, Udon Thani provincial leaders, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung, Vietnamese Consul General in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh, and Vietnamese community representatives in Thailand welcomed General Secretary and President Lam, along with his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation.

Right after their arrival, General Secretary and President Lam, along with his wife and the Vietnamese delegation, honored President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site and engaged with the local Vietnamese community.
Vietnam and Thailand have numerous shared interests in upholding peace, stability, collaboration, and growth in the region. In the last 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties (1976–2026), bilateral relations have been consistently fortified and broadened in a strong and comprehensive way, evolving into one of the most vibrant and efficient partnerships within ASEAN.
The two nations elevated their relationship from a Strategic Partnership to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership, and now to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, indicating the increasing degree of political confidence between both parties.
The official visit highlights Vietnam’s strong esteem for its ties with Thailand and for the Southeast Asian region. It offers a chance for senior leaders from both nations to engage in detailed conversations about key strategies for successfully executing the new cooperation framework, thus generating new energy for bilateral relations in the upcoming phase.

In a serious setting, the leading Vietnamese figure, along with his partner and delegation members, held a minute of silence to honor President Ho Chi Minh, an extraordinary leader, a remarkable teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, a hero of national liberation, and an illustrious cultural figure.
The leading Vietnamese official expressed his wish that Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand will keep fostering patriotism, contributing more to the homeland, and acting as a vital link for friendship and collaboration between both nations.

In honor of President Ho Chi Minh's 136th birth anniversary, General Secretary and President Lam, along with his spouse, planted a memorial tree at the location to encourage the mindset of learning from and adhering to the teachings of the late leader.
