The Ministry of Transportation has introduced a complimentary bus travel initiative for a maximum of 3,090 individuals who are intending to visit their homes or go on vacations during the holiday season spanning from Christmas 2025 to New Year 2026.

“We have prepared a free bus travel quota of 3,090 passengers, alongside transport for 60 units of motorbikes,” Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan noted in a statement cited in Jakarta.

The speaker also mentioned that the deadline for registration is December 21, but the ministry will close registration once the maximum limit is reached.

Individuals will be required to register again at designated locations such as the ministry's main office and the Bulungan Sports Hall in Blok M, South Jakarta.

“The Directorate General of Land Transportation is providing free transport services with 75 buses for passengers and two trucks for motorcycles. This program is designed to facilitate residents in returning to their hometowns or reaching far destinations,” Suhanan said.

“Up-to-date information on the free travel program is accessible on the Mitra Darat app, the Nusantara Hub platform, and the Instagram account of our Land Transportation Directorate General,” he added.

Expanding on the subject, the spokesperson explained that this year's complimentary travel initiative includes excursions from Jakarta to 10 different destinations in Java: Solo, Wonosobo, Semarang, Wonogiri, Cilacap, Purwokerto (Banyumas), Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, and Madiun.

“The bus fleet will depart from the Pulogebang Terminal in Jakarta on December 23, while the motorbike-transporting trucks will leave for Solo and Yogyakarta the day before,” he explained.

Suhanan advised against embarking on extended motorcycle journeys for safety purposes, recommending that individuals utilize the complimentary public transportation services provided by the Ministry of Transportation and other organizations.

“We do not recommend homecoming travels on motorcycles due to higher risks of accidents,” he said.
