Vietnamese, Thai FMs Discuss Method to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
During his official trip to Thailand, the Party Central Committee's Secretary and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung had a discussion with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow. In the meeting, both parties emphasized the significance of the longstanding friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and Thailand.
They agreed to enhance their political trust through continued high-level and all-level delegation exchanges, especially in 2026 for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

They agreed to strengthen communication between their government departments, industries, and regions, as well as to efficiently carry out the results of the fourth Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting. This includes working together to promptly create an Action Plan for implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership from 2026 to 2030 with specific and tangible details.
The two ministers acknowledged that economic, trade, and investment collaboration is a fundamental aspect of the relationship between the two countries.
They agreed to work towards reaching the goal of 25 billion USD in bilateral trade. Both parties also agreed to effectively execute the “Three Connections” strategy and enhance cooperation in areas like energy, sustainable practices, circular economy, digital economy, and logistics, which have great potential and complement each other.

Both parties will promote businesses from both countries to increase investments in one another's markets, helping to achieve a balanced, stable, and long-lasting bilateral economic growth.
They restated their dedication to preventing any group or individual from using one country's territory to harm the other. It was agreed that they would maintain cooperation in fighting transnational crime, drug trafficking, and cybercrime. The two ministers discussed regional and global issues and emphasized the significance of preserving peace, stability, security, and safety in the region. They highlighted the essential role of ASEAN and committed to enhancing unity and coordination within the organization to amplify their collective stance on both regional and global matters.
The Thai Foreign Minister provided details about recent tensions at the Thailand-Cambodia border. Trung showed worry about the complex situation in the border areas of Thailand and Cambodia. He urged all parties involved to be cautious, prevent further escalation, and settle disagreements peacefully through dialogue, following international law and established regional agreements. The minister from Vietnam stated that Vietnam is prepared to collaborate with ASEAN nations, such as Thailand, to actively participate in collective initiatives aimed at upholding long-lasting peace and stability in the region.

During this visit, Trung went to the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand where he had a meeting with the staff. He expressed his gratitude for the embassy's work in diplomacy, protecting citizens, and enhancing friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand. Trung encouraged the embassy to keep playing its role in connecting both countries and to enhance assistance for the Vietnamese community in Thailand. This support would help to bolster bilateral relations and bring positive impacts to the host nation.
