Uber Hires Arnab Kumar As Business Development Director For India and South Asia

Arnab Kumar has been appointed as the Director of Business Development for India and South Asia by Uber, one of India's top ridesharing apps. With more than 17 years of experience in the technology and financial services sectors, he joins Uber. In his professional career, Kumar has built up Coinbase's operations in India and led Prosus' strategic efforts and fintech investments in the country.

The developing technology initiatives Aarogya Setu, India's Covid contact tracing app, and others were developed while Kumar was the Program Director at NITI Aayog. Additionally, he has experience working for Deutsche Bank as an investment banker in Singapore and New York. Kumar is a CFA charterholder and a graduate of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad and the Birla Institute of Technology in Mesra.

According to the business, Kumar's appointment coincides with Uber's completion of a decade of operations in India, where it is concentrating on expanding sustainable mobility alternatives. Uber claims to have been at the vanguard of the EV shift in India by adopting a collaborative strategy with many players in the value chain, including EV fleets, financiers, EV infrastructure providers, and governmental organizations.
