Tran Thanh Man, President of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA), together with his Ivorian counterpart Patrick Achi, explored and examined high-tech agricultural and seafood processing practices in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The visit to Trung An High-Tech Agriculture JSC and Can Tho Import-Export Seafood JSC (Caseamex) was included in the Ivorian leader's official trip to Vietnam from August 23-26.

At Trung An, the two leaders along with their delegations explored the company’s rice production, processing, and export activities and examined its variety of rice and processed rice products.

Trung An has built a high-tech, closed production and processing chain with approximately 18 years of experience in rice exports. The company is also one of the Vietnamese enterprises that has created an export network in Côte d'Ivoire. Agricultural goods, especially rice, significantly facilitate trade between Vietnam and Côte d'Ivoire. Côte d'Ivoire is presently Vietnam's third-biggest market for rice exports, whereas Vietnam imports cashew nuts, cotton, and various raw materials from the West African nation.

The visit allowed the Ivorian delegation to gain insights from Vietnam’s success in boosting rice production and enhancing processing capabilities. Vietnam generates roughly 45 million tonnes of paddy each year, while Côte d'Ivoire produces approximately 2 million tonnes, even though their land areas are similar. The group also toured a showcase area of promising rice types for the 2026 summer-autumn harvest in Can Tho city.

At Caseamex, NA President Achi remarked that Africa presents significant potential, providing opportunities for Vietnamese products and technologies to grow their footprint on the continent.

He mentioned that Côte d'Ivoire might turn into an appealing location for Vietnamese companies aiming to broaden their markets, invest, and enhance value chains in Africa.

The Ivorian NA leader committed to maintaining a close collaboration with NA President Man and to enhancing interactions among pertinent agencies of both nations to ensure that bilateral cooperation, especially in agriculture, is more meaningful and efficient.

In the seafood industry, he conveyed his optimism that Vietnamese firms would not only export fish and seafood to Côte d'Ivoire but also invest in equipment and share technologies to aid the country in enhancing its food security.

Caseamex is an established company in the Mekong Delta that processes and exports seafood. Its primary product is pangasius, comprising frozen fillets and various value-added processed items, exported to over 50 countries and regions.
