Vietnamese Party Chief Visits Former Top Leaders of Laos

To Lam, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), paid a visit to the previous General Secretaries of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and former Presidents of Laos, Choummaly Sayasone and Bounnhang Vorachith, during his current official trip to Laos.

Former leaders of Laos expressed their delight in meeting General Secretary Lam, a trusted friend of the Lao people, during his significant visit.

This visit coincided with the 50th National Day of Laos and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane. They mentioned that the visit signifies the ongoing friendship between the two Parties, people, and important leaders of both countries.

They acknowledged that they have been closely monitoring and are proud of Vietnam's socio-economic progress, especially its strong economic growth within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its increasing presence in the global stage under the effective leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Former leaders of Laos expressed their approval of the significant advancements in cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, as well as the successful execution of key projects.   They also conveyed their warm regards to current and former leaders of Vietnam, expressing their desire for the continued fostering of the special bond between the two countries.

General Secretary Lam expressed his profound emotions during the meeting with the former Lao leaders, referring to them as loyal friends who have always backed Viet Nam and played a significant role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.   He also conveyed warm regards and good wishes from current and past Vietnamese Party and State leaders, while expressing gratitude to the former Lao leaders for their unwavering support towards Viet Nam's progress.     

The leader of the Party emphasized that Vietnam highly values the remarkable accomplishments Laos has achieved during 50 years of nation-building and 40 years of reform. He also recognizes the significant contributions made by previous leaders of Laos. He stated that Vietnam will persist in offering solid and all-encompassing assistance for Laos to advance its reform, socio-economic growth, and national defense and development.

He expressed belief that Laos will efficiently host the 12th National Party Congress and achieve more triumphs under the guidance of the LPRP. General Secretary Lam told the former Lao leaders that both sides had agreed to enhance their bilateral relations to the level of "Great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion" during the visit.

This signifies a mutual vision, interconnected strategic interests, and a long-term commitment to supporting sustainable development, self-reliance, and prosperity for both peoples. The ex-Leaders of Laos highlighted the long-lasting support of Vietnam during tough times and in the present development of Laos. They expressed their strong belief that the special bond between the two nations will thrive and emphasized the need to educate the youth about this exceptional connection.

General Secretary Lam confirmed that Vietnam always places great importance on preserving and enhancing the unique relationship between Vietnam and Laos. He promised to collaborate closely with Laos to successfully carry out recent agreements at the highest level, specifically focusing on strategic directions in economic cooperation, defense and security, culture, education, and infrastructure connectivity.
