Every structure tells a story; not only of concrete and steel, but of the foresight, passion, creativity and resilience of the people who built it. Construction is not merely the act of stacking concrete on the land but the development of spaces that foster development, build communities, and become monuments of development.

Embodying this vision is Rhodium Builders 688, through Geefy Evangelista, Founder and Design Director, and Managing Partner. Founded in 2015 and based in Pasig City, Philippines, Rhodium Builders 688 has grown as a reputable contractor providing residential, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure development in the country with its Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board General Building AAA classification and recognition in the field of General Engineering and Specialty-Structural Demolition.

Geefy is an alumnus of Mapua University and began his career as a design consultant in Dubai, where he gained a rich international experience. In 2011, he returned to the Philippines, where he opened his own small practice, initially focusing on small residential buildings, house repairs and consultations.

This starting point assisted him in mastering his trade and earned him credibility, which saw him finally turn to medium-scale design and construction projects in 2016 with his business partner.

Having always believed in starting small first, to build discipline and resilience, he has maintained professionalism, innovation and long-term perspective, and this has been and will continue to be his trademark to date as he still leads and guides the industry.

We are delighted to engage in an exclusive conversation with Geefy, who walks us through his academic journey, leadership approach, and future.

Great risks often lead to invaluable rewards beyond imagination, and with the right mindset, everything is possible

What was the most transformative learning experience at Mapua University?

The most transformative learning experience at Mapua University was developing leadership skills and learning to be accountable for my actions. These lessons have stayed with me throughout the years and have been integral to my growth and practice as an architect.

How has the university helped you further your passion for entrepreneurship and refine your business acumen?

What I learned from the university has greatly contributed to my success in the industry by teaching me the value of versatility. It encouraged me not to focus on just one aspect of the profession but to remain adaptable and innovative in my practice. The university instilled in me the mindset that learning should never stop.

As the industry continues to evolve, where practices and construction methods today are vastly different from those of two decades ago, it is essential to continuously embrace new knowledge and innovations. That commitment to lifelong learning is one of the most valuable lessons the university imparted to me.

What kinds of exposure, and networking and learning opportunities did the university provide?

The university provided me with opportunities to connect with established professionals such as architects and engineers in our industry. These interactions broadened my perspective, helped me see the bigger picture, and made me realize that there is much more to learn and experience beyond the classroom.

Additionally, the university helped me develop consistency and instilled in me the importance of being proactive in every aspect of my professional journey.

What is one memory from your university years that you particularly cherish?

One memory I deeply cherish from my university years is my experience leading a student organization. It not only gave me a strong sense of leadership but also helped me realize that my abilities extended beyond academics. That experience taught me that I could lead effectively, serve as an example to others, and successfully manage a large organization.

What future roadmap have you envisioned for yourself over the next five years? Also, what would be your advice to budding leaders in the industry?

Over the next five years, my roadmap is to focus on building projects that will create a significant impact on the Philippine economy.

The one piece of advice I would offer to upcoming leaders is to remain consistent in their endeavors and never shy away from taking bold risks. Great risks often lead to invaluable rewards beyond imagination, and with the right mindset, everything is possible.
