The purpose of the visit is to attend a meeting with co-CEO Jun Young-hyun, who is in charge of the chip division, and Han Jin-man, the head of Samsung's foundry business.

Su's upcoming visit to Korea will signify her first official trip to the country since assuming her role in 2014.

According to industry analysts, the two companies are anticipated to engage in discussions regarding collaboration within the foundry sector, broadening their partnership from solely memory chips. Samsung Electronics has been providing HBM3E to AMD's most recent artificial intelligence (AI) solutions since 2025, demonstrating a strong and enduring business partnership.

Discussions may encompass strategies for utilizing Samsung Electronics' manufacturing capabilities for the production of AMD's forthcoming advancements in AI chip technology. Should Samsung Electronics manage to secure AMD as a new client, it could potentially boost momentum for its foundry business and enhance financial performance within a sector largely led by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.

Furthermore, according to reports, Su is set to have a meeting with Lee Jae-yong, the Chairman of Samsung Electronics. In addition, the CEO of AMD held a meeting with Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon at the headquarters of the tech company, located in Seongnam.

This meeting indicates a developing partnership focused on transforming the competitive landscape of the worldwide AI semiconductor market, which has been traditionally controlled by Nvidia.

Industry insiders anticipate that the two corporations will soon formalize a memorandum of agreement with a concentration on enhancing stability within the AI chip procurement process and broadening their collaboration in the realm of data center infrastructure. The increasing demand for AI computing power has placed companies such as Naver in a position where they must ensure stable and cost-effective chip supplies.
