Brunei, Singapore Mark 50 Years of Defense Ties

The Chief of Defense Force in Singapore, Vice-Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng, recently organized a special dinner for present and past military leaders from Brunei Darussalam in order to celebrate the 50th year of defense relations between the two nations.
The dinner took place at the prestigious Indera Samudera Hall, located within The Empire Brunei.

Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defense II, Pehin Datuk Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Datuk Paduka Seri Awang Halbi Mohd Yussof, graced the event as the distinguished guest of honor.
Upon his arrival to preside over the occasion, Vice-Admiral Beng emphasized the robustness and enduring nature of the bilateral defense alliance, underscoring that the strong collaboration over the past fifty years has facilitated seamless cooperation between both military forces.
In celebration of this significant occasion, the Singapore-Brunei 50th Anniversary (SG-BRU 50) emblem was unveiled during the ceremonial dinner.

“I am confident that Brunei Darussalam and Singapore will not only preserve what we have built over the last fifty years, but continue to deepen our partnership, adapt to new challenges, and contribute meaningfully to peace and stability in our region for many decades to come”, he says.
The emblem serves as a representation of the strong and enduring bond established on the principles of mutual respect, confidence, and fidelity.
It will be proudly adorned by members of both the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) during collaborative events and activities scheduled throughout the course of the year.
The commencement was collectively presided over by Vice Admiral Beng and Major General Datuk Paduka Seri Muhammad Haszaimi Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF. The collaboration in defense between Singapore and Brunei Darussalam has progressed consistently, showcasing an increase in the extent and intricacy of interactions between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
During the current month, the 29th edition of Exercise Maju Bersama and the 25th edition of Exercise Rintis Bersama are being carried out by the Singapore Army and the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF).

Personnel from various units, including Headquarters 2nd Singapore Infantry Brigade, 1st Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment, and 1st Battalion RBLF, participate in Exercise Maju Bersama. On the other hand, Exercise Rintis Bersama unites the Singapore Combat Engineers and the RBLF Engineer Regiment in joint training activities.
The armed forces of both nations frequently participate in various bilateral exercises such as Exercise Pelican and Exercise Airguard, as well as engage in professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses, and official visits. These activities serve to strengthen the enduring defense relationship between the two countries.
