Defense Minister Praises Growing Military Ties With China

Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang has emphasized the strong, substantial, and successful partnership with China, attributing it to the strategic direction provided by the leaders of both Parties and nations.
During a gathering in the capital city of Ha Noi on April 6th to welcome Chinese Ambassador He Wei and Defense Attaché to Viet Nam Col.
Jiang Bo, Giang emphasized the positive outcomes of the initial ministerial-level "3+3" Strategic Dialogue between Viet Nam and China in the areas of foreign affairs, national defense, and public security in March.

Subsequently, the 10th Border Defense Friendship Exchange between Viet Nam and China, which took place in Quang Ninh province in Viet Nam and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China, played a crucial role in strengthening unity and friendship, as well as enhancing practical and efficient defense cooperation.
Praising Jiang's accomplishments while serving in Viet Nam, Giang highlighted his close collaboration with Vietnamese officials, acting as a vital link between the two defense ministries and actively promoting defense diplomacy.
Giang expressed optimism in Jiang's ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral defense relations in his new role.

During the event, the host extended gratitude to He and Jiang for their involvement in recent initiatives, notably the refurbishment and enhancement of the cemetery in April 2025 for Chinese soldiers and experts who supported Viet Nam's revolutionary efforts. He conveyed optimism for continued collaboration between the Chinese Embassy and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence to advance their mutual defense relations.
He agreed with the minister's perspective, emphasizing that the "3+3" Strategic Dialogue was exceptionally effective in fostering more substantial political trust and advancing China - Vietnam relations to a higher standard.
Furthermore, he observed that the subsequent 10th Vietnam - China Border Defence Friendship Exchange significantly enhanced collaboration between the two defense ministries and promoted a closer bond between the two nations.

The ambassador expressed optimism for the mutual expansion of future endeavors, encompassing political collaborations, collaborative maritime enforcement missions, and cultural exchanges among young military personnel from both nations.
