Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq has called for digital transformation in education to enhance innovative learning in schools.

Haq delivered the statement while inaugurating the "Bungo Pintar" application at the Bungo District office of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) in Jambi Province.

"This digital innovation is very fitting and in line with what we are pursuing at the Ministry, namely strengthening digital-based learning innovation," Haq says.

He mentioned that by the conclusion of 2024, the Ministry had noted over a thousand applications registered throughout the ministry. In accordance with the education minister's directive, all those applications were merged into one comprehensive super app known as Rumah Pendidikan.

"Rumah Pendidikan is a super app that combines hundreds of applications that have been produced and used at the Ministry of Education. We encourage regional applications, such as Bungo Pintar, to be integrated with or support the Rumah Pendidikan ecosystem," he says.

During the event, he urged educators and education stakeholders to download and utilize Rumah Pendidikan as their primary digital learning tool.

He also highlighted the national success of the Rumah Pendidikan app, introduced by the ministry in 2024, which secured first position at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Switzerland.

The prize was awarded by a specific United Nations organization, as the submission was deemed to have excelled over entries from 122 nations and over 1,500 submissions in the contest.

He stated that the global acknowledgment demonstrates that Indonesia's digital transformation in education is advancing successfully and can act as an example for others. Concerning the release of the Bungo Pintar app, Jambi’s Deputy Governor Abdullah Sani stated that the digital innovation goes beyond just staying current; it demonstrates a genuine dedication to reducing bureaucracy and providing transparent access to educational information.

"The presence of Bungo Pintar opens the door wide for education transparency, easier access to information, and faster improvement in the quality of human resources in Bungo District," he says.

Earlier, the vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka stressed to students that AI should be considered a means to accelerate learning, rather than a shortcut that promotes lethargy. He compared the technology to a personal assistant that streamlines data gathering, language learning, and intricate mathematical equations. Nonetheless, he warned that gaining proficiency in AI should not diminish the critical thinking abilities of young people.

He emphasized that proficiency in technology is the crucial factor for Indonesia to realize its Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. In the face of swift technological advancement, he also encouraged educators and parents to consistently work on enhancing their own abilities.
