Indonesia Explores Meta Tie-up to Boost Creative Exports

The Creative Economy Ministry of Indonesia is investigating potential collaboration with Meta in order to broaden the reach of local creators in international markets.
This initiative seeks to enhance the competitiveness and global visibility of domestic talent.

Deputy Minister Irene Umar emphasized that collaborations with prominent platforms are instrumental in expanding the global reach of Indonesian creative works.
She emphasized that as creators expand their presence on a global scale, it is crucial for them to continue being pertinent and approachable to local audiences, ensuring sustained and robust engagement within their own country.
Irene emphasized that the government serves a dual role not only as a regulatory body but also as a facilitator, bringing together various stakeholders to ensure that the creative ecosystem evolves in a cohesive and sustainable manner.
During discussions with Meta, both parties deliberated on potential collaborative efforts, such as sharing market data across borders, implementing training enhanced by AI and gamification, and intensifying educational initiatives regarding community guidelines to ensure safe digital engagement.

Berni Moestafa, who serves as the Head of Public Policy for Indonesia and the Philippines at Meta, remarked that Indonesia represents a rapidly expanding digital market, propelled by notable user creativity. This evolving situation has prompted Meta to persist in launching features and initiatives aimed at assisting creators and businesses within the nation.
Digital adoption in Indonesia is robust, with users demonstrating remarkable creativity in leveraging technology, not just for communication, but also for business expansion," stated Berni.
Meta reiterated its dedication to enhancing creators' capabilities by implementing best practices for digital platform usage, encompassing content strategy as well as proficient public communication.
Imanuel Lamoa, the APAC Partner Manager, stated that the strategy is designed to assist creators in optimizing their digital capabilities not only in terms of sales but also in establishing solid foundations in content creation.
With this strategy, our objective is to assist creators in achieving more efficient growth and to enable them to maximize the potential of digital platforms,” he states.
