"The summit is expected to solidify existing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and infrastructure and broaden collaboration in promising sectors such as AI and nuclear power," presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a written briefing.

This follows their initial discussions that took place during Wong's trip to South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. It was at this summit that both countries decided to elevate their bilateral relations to the status of a strategic partnership.

It was stated by Kang that, in order to establish a foundation for collaboration, the two countries intend to execute five memorandums of understanding in various sectors such as artificial intelligence, small modular reactors, and digital science and technology.

After the discussions, Lee and Wong will collectively declare their intention to initiate negotiations aimed at enhancing the existing bilateral free trade agreement that became effective in 2006 and presently includes provisions for both goods and services.

Lee is also expected to have a separate discussion with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam prior to the summit. He will also participate in an orchid naming ceremony, a distinctive diplomatic and cultural occasion where a new hybrid orchid is formally named in honor of esteemed guests.
