During its inaugural global debut in Seoul, Mercedes-Benz introduced the latest electric C-Class sedan, demonstrating a significant dedication to the luxury electric vehicle market in Korea.

The occasion highlights the increasing significance of the country to the German luxury car manufacturer, as a delegation of the company's senior executives, led by Mercedes-Benz Group Chairman Ola Kallenius, traveled to Seoul to commemorate the launch of the all-electric C-Class.

The car merges a sleek silhouette resembling that of a coupe, an illuminated front grille adorned with 1,050 illuminated dots, and a dynamic rear design.

“Korea is such an important market for us, so we want to send a message to the Korean fans (by holding the event in Seoul),” Kallenius told during a media roundtable. “Korea is one of the most important markets for us by size, and it is the fifth biggest. The customer base here is technology-oriented.”

The electric sedan boasts a range of up to 762 kilometers on a single charge, as confirmed by the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) certification.

Additionally, the car manufacturer claims that the vehicle's range can be extended by 325 kilometers with just 10 minutes of charging. Mercedes-Benz has not officially disclosed the identity of its battery cell collaborators for the electric C-Class.

However, the company has indicated a desire to further strengthen its partnerships in battery technology with South Korean companies, specifically LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI.

On that very day, Mercedes-Benz entered into its initial battery collaboration with Samsung SDI. The forthcoming SUV and coupe models by the automaker will feature batteries supplied by the Korean battery manufacturer.

The electric C-Class comes equipped with the manufacturer's most current MB.OS operating system, which seamlessly integrates the model's infotainment, driving, charging, and autonomous features into a cohesive digital ecosystem, as stated by the manufacturer.

Mercedes-Benz Group Chief Technology Officer Joerg Burzer and Mathias Geisen, the Group's Sales and Customer Experience Chief, were present at the event. Approximately 80 journalists from various countries around the world traveled to Seoul to participate in the global premiere.

Overseas automobile manufacturers are quickly broadening their retail locations and maintenance facilities in South Korea, in a bid to boost sales in various regions across the country. Audi Korea, which experienced a significant increase in sales this year, aims to continue its success in the coming year through the introduction of additional customer service facilities.

The previous week saw the inauguration of the car manufacturer's upscale showroom on the southern island of Jeju in the country. This strategic move seeks to attract potential buyers and strengthen brand loyalty. The exhibition hall serves as a platform for customers to explore and experience the luxury and innovation offered by Audi.

BYD Korea is currently experiencing rapid growth as an imported car manufacturer, particularly in terms of expanding their service facilities. Since making its debut in January, this Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company has successfully inaugurated a total of 28 brand showrooms and 16 service centers throughout the country.

Other prominent foreign luxury automakers like BMW Korea and Mercedes-Benz Korea are intensifying their endeavors to establish additional infrastructure and bolster their presence in the domestic market.

Mercedes-Benz Korea has plans to inaugurate a comparable comprehensive service center in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, in March 2026, providing enhanced convenience for customers in the area seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. The expansive four-level structure covers an area of 3,840 square meters and encompasses a showroom dedicated to showcasing the brand's vehicles.
