For Parikshit, the move comes at a time when the role of communications leadership is expanding beyond conventional public relations. Modern brands increasingly require an understanding of business strategy, consumer behaviour, culture, technology, reputation, and market dynamics to build stronger relationships with their audiences.
Diana Fernandes, Founder and Group CEO of Bloomingdale Public Relations, commented that “Singapore is an important vantage point in understanding and developing relationships across Southeast Asia. The agency needed a leader, she said, who would be able to extend beyond the Singapore market and help to develop a more regionally integrated communications practice”.
Diana also said the agency intentionally looked beyond traditional PR backgrounds when selecting its regional leader. “Communications has changed dramatically. It now sits at the intersection of business, culture, technology, consumer behaviour and reputation,” she said, adding that Sharma brings a broader perspective shaped by his experience across brands and markets.
Parikshit brings a similarly broad view of the communications industry. He said his career has consistently focused on understanding why consumers notice, trust, and choose brands. In his view, effective public relations now requires a deeper understanding of the business and the market rather than focusing only on media visibility.

“PR is no longer just about media coverage. It is about understanding the business, the consumer, the culture and the reputation of a brand, and bringing those perspectives together,” Parikshit said.
His experience across ASEAN, India, Africa, and Australia has also shaped his understanding of regional differences. Parikshit pointed out that Southeast Asia cannot be treated as a single market, as individual countries have distinct media ecosystems, consumer preferences, business cultures, and regulatory environments.
Parikshit’s track record includes leading a festival shopper campaign at Wunderman Thompson across 10 Tata retail brands, including Tanishq, Titan, Croma, and Westside. At Ogilvy Action, he led rural activation for Hindustan Unilever that reached more than four million households. His shopper marketing work at DDB Mudra earned Gold and Silver at the Abby Awards.
