PM Commends Vietnamese Students Winning International Prizes

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised Vietnamese students who achieved success in international competitions in 2025 during a meeting with them, encouraging them to keep working hard to be responsible citizens committed to serving their country and its people.
As per the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), Vietnamese student teams have earned a grand total of 434 awards in international academic competitions in the last 10 years. These include 132 gold medals, 169 silver medals, and 133 bronze medals, in addition to certificates of merit.

Several students have managed to win gold medals in two consecutive years, while others have achieved the same feat when they were in the 10th grade. In the academic year 2024-2025, Vietnam competed with seven teams in regional and international Olympiads in various subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and informatics.
Out of the total 37 students who participated, all of them were able to secure prizes, including 13 gold, 16 silver, and eight bronze medals. All four Vietnamese participants at the International Chemistry Olympiad achieved gold medals, representing the country's most outstanding performance to date.
Vietnam also earned the fourth spot out of 60 nations at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, in its debut in the event.
During the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair 2025 in the US, Vietnam attained its best results yet with two second-place prizes and one third-place prize. At the gathering, 91 students were recognized for their achievements, with 10 of them receiving awards in various international competitions such as sports, music, arts, and other fields.

During the event, Prime Minister Chinh showed his admiration for the students, praising them as exceptional individuals with talent and intelligence. He emphasized the importance of education and training as a key focus for the nation to build a strong workforce for the country's rapid and steady progress. He stressed the importance of cultivating and efficiently utilizing talent, particularly in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, as a necessary trend and a top strategic concern in today's global landscape.
The Prime Minister urged government departments, industries, and regions to enhance their efforts in finding, educating, and supporting gifted students. He emphasized the importance of developing outstanding teachers and trainers. The Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to work with other organizations to create a plan for recognizing and nurturing young talents in Vietnam.

He requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to prioritize the training and growth of skilled individuals in the cultural, artistic, and sports fields, as well as to provide suitable policies and incentives for athletes, coaches, and sports professionals in order to enhance the country's sports accomplishments. PM Chinh boosted the students, showing trust in their ability to succeed in their academic pursuits and training, thereby enhancing a more robust, thriving, and joyful Viet Nam.
