
PM Modi, Mongolian President Ukhnaa Talk Uranium, Defence, More

Discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa included India's potential procurement of uranium from Mongolia and measures to strengthen defense cooperation between the nations.
Following the dialogue between the leaders, both countries signed 10 pacts aimed at expanding collaboration in vital areas including digital technologies, mineral resource exploration, and rapid-impact initiatives.
Key discussion points also encompassed a $1.7 billion Indian-supported petroleum refinery venture in Mongolia and methods to improve comprehensive energy partnerships between the nations.

During his media briefing after the discussions, Prime Minister Modi stated that India would serve as a "dependable and steadfast partner" in Mongolia's developmental journey.
President Ukhnaa arrived in New Delhi early this week for a four-day Indian visit, marking his inaugural trip to the nation in his presidential capacity.
After concluding discussions with the Mongolian leader, Modi announced that India would provide complimentary electronic visas to Mongolian citizens. "The oil refinery project, supported by India's $1.7 billion line of credit, will strengthen Mongolia's energy security," the prime minister said.

He stated that this represents India's most significant development partnership initiative worldwide, involving more than 2,500 Indian experts collaborating with Mongolian colleagues to bring the project to fruition.
The Mongolian president, for his part, praised India's prominent position in the renewable energy field and made particular mention of the International Solar Alliance spearheaded by New Delhi.
Modi further observed that the relationship between India and Mongolia extends beyond mere diplomatic ties. The prime minister mentioned that numerous significant decisions were made during his discussions with Ukhnaa to enhance this tradition and strengthen their historical connections.

The collaboration between both nations encompasses various areas including defense and security, energy, mining, information technology, education, healthcare, and cultural exchange. India showed interest in acquiring uranium and other minerals from Mongolia, such as copper, gold, and zinc.
