Based in South Australia, TEP has been actively involved in one of the globe’s leading renewable-energy markets, offering guidance to corporations, utilities, airports, governments, and institutions on renewable and distributed-energy initiatives.

Its history features solar initiatives at airports in Adelaide and Sydney, solar and battery systems for water utilities, EV charging solutions for Linfox, and commercial energy projects for companies such as Bunnings and Stockland.

After the acquisition, TEP will become the renewable energy component of AESG's wider Sustainability practice. The company has established a solid reputation for providing independent, technically sound guidance in renewable energy strategy, solar, battery storage, microgrids, distributed energy, and electric vehicle infrastructure. The energy strategy, techno-economic modeling, and project delivery expertise will enhance AESG’s existing strengths in sustainability, environmental consultancy, building services, electrical infrastructure, cost management, and commissioning.

For the Middle East, this acquisition provides AESG’s customers with access to specialized knowledge gained in a market that is already tackling numerous technical challenges becoming more crucial as renewable generation and storage expand. TEP’s expertise encompasses the entire lifecycle, from energy strategies and techno-economic modeling to specifications, procurement, and implementation. This reinforces AESG’s recognized role in sustainability and multidisciplinary engineering throughout the region, it mentioned.

On the strategic buy, CEO Saeed Al Abbar says, "Our approach to growth is focused on building and acquiring specialist capabilities that strengthen AESG and create meaningful value for our clients globally. The Energy Project is exactly that. TEP has built an exceptional reputation in Australia, a market that has become a global benchmark for the integration of renewable generation, storage and distributed energy."

"Joining AESG is a natural next step for The Energy Project. "We share a strong commitment to technical excellence, independent advice and practical client outcomes. AESG’s international platform and complementary expertise will allow us to take the experience we have developed in Australia into markets such as the Middle East and beyond, while creating new opportunities for our team and clients," he adds.

In his new position as managing director for Australia, Mather will oversee AESG's ongoing growth in the market while making sure that TEP's expertise and the broader Australian business assist clients and teams throughout the Middle East and AESG’s global network.

A well-respected individual in the engineering consultancy field, he possesses over 40 years of experience in the industry, featuring significant senior leadership roles in global engineering consultancies and a remarkable history of establishing, acquiring, and merging consulting firms across various markets.

AESG highlighted that the acquisition and Mather’s appointment are integral to its ongoing international growth and strategy of merging organic development with carefully chosen investments in top-tier specialized skills and experienced industry professionals.
