Vietnam, Hungary Boost AI Cooperation in Judicial Sector

The embassy of Vietnam in Hungary has committed to maintaining its role as a facilitator in fostering tangible and effective collaborative projects in the fields of science, technology, and innovation, specifically in the area of artificial intelligence.
This commitment aims to support Vietnam in its policy formulation, digital advancement, and overall socio-economic progress.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary, in collaboration with the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Hungary, organized an academic conference on April 16 focused on the topic of "Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Judiciary and Legal System - Lessons from the European Union (EU) and Potential Applications in Vietnam."

The gathering drew a substantial turnout of specialists in the fields of science, technology, and artificial intelligence hailing from Hungary, as well as various other European nations, in addition to Vietnamese academics and researchers residing both domestically and internationally.
Ambassador Bui Le Thai, speaking at the workshop, acknowledged that the event coincided with Viet Nam's diligent execution of the Politburo's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW regarding advancements in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
This initiative signifies a crucial strategic direction, in which AI is recognized as a pivotal technology with significant implications for a multitude of sectors, including the judiciary and court establishments.
The embassy has been actively engaging in various endeavors to facilitate knowledge sharing and bolster cooperation in science and technology among Viet Nam, Hungary, and other European nations in accordance with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. This initiative also aims to leverage the expertise of the Vietnamese intellectual community residing in Hungary.
It was noted that the workshop serves as a tangible step towards fulfilling these goals. Professionals and scholars in the field shared insights on the utilization of artificial intelligence within the legal realm, encompassing advancements in data processing, efficiency in decision-making, transparency enhancement, and broader access to justice for individuals.

Discussions underscored the importance of establishing suitable legal structures and ethical guidelines to maintain equilibrium between technological progress and the preservation of human rights. He emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts at an international level, especially between Viet Nam and European allies, in the areas of research, knowledge exchange, and technological advancement.
