Vietnam Eyes Mutually Beneficial Economic Partnership With US

Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung informed US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau during a meeting in Ha Noi that Vietnam is proactively fostering balanced, sustainable, and mutually advantageous economic and trade relations with the US.
At his reception for the US Deputy Secretary of State, Minister Trung stated that Landau’s visit signifies the value the US places on its relationship with Vietnam and will aid in sustaining the positive progression of bilateral relations.
The FM placed great importance on recent senior-level interactions and discussions, characterizing them as a crucial basis for enhancing political confidence and meaningful collaboration, and influencing the future of relations between the two nations.

He observed that the relationship between Vietnam and the US has progressed consistently over the years, surmounting historical obstacles to attain substantial advancements. The two nations have slowly developed a steady and more significant partnership founded on mutual respect for their independence, sovereignty, political system, and common interests.
He emphasized that a strong, independent, and thriving Vietnam benefits not just the US but also the region and the global community. FM Trung emphasized the necessity for heightened interactions across all tiers, stating that Vietnam is open to visits from US governmental delegations, Congress, regional bodies, and the business sector to promote dialogue, deepen mutual understanding, and generate fresh impetus for bilateral collaboration. He suggested stronger collaboration in creating targeted cooperation initiatives and strategies to efficiently execute key directives established by the leaders of both nations.

He stated that economic and trade collaboration continues to be a fundamental aspect of the bilateral relationship. Recognizing US concerns over trade-related matters, Vietnam expresses its intent to collaborate with the US to enhance trade, improve market access, and strengthen cooperation in promising sectors through institutional advancements and more efficient law enforcement.
The minister emphasized the significance of collaboration in science and technology, education, culture, and exchanges between people, noting that these act as strong bases that foster extensive public backing in both nations for enhanced bilateral relations.
Landau conveyed his happiness about visiting Vietnam and greatly appreciated the recent socio-economic accomplishments of the Southeast Asian nation. He reiterated that the US values its partnership with Viet Nam and aims to enhance cooperation founded on mutual respect and benefits.
He observed that the two nations possess numerous shared interests, especially in economic, trade, and security collaboration. He emphasized the significance of diplomacy and open, constructive dialogue in enhancing mutual understanding of priorities and concerns, thus addressing potential issues. The US anticipates that both parties will efficiently handle trade issues while engaging in discussions about a long-term vision and the potential for sustained collaboration, he mentioned.
