Top 10 CEOs From Russia - 2022
A chief executive officer (CEO) is the highest-ranking executive in a company. Broadly speaking, a chief executive officer's primary responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of a company, acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and corporate operations. In many cases, the chief executive officer serves as the public face of the company. The CEO is elected by the board and its shareholders. They report to the chair and the board, who are appointed by shareholders. A CEOs role varies from one company to another depending on the company's size, culture, and corporate structure. In large corporations, CEOs typically deal only with very high-level strategic decisions and those that direct the company's overall growth.
Over the past year, Russia has made headlines by reportedly meddling in the US election and stoking the fire of confrontation with Ukraine. Russia is ranked 28 in the Ease of Doing Business. Russia has one of the world's largest economies and an important domestic market. Investors looking for greater diversification or trying to tap into fast-growing parts of the world may have considered emerging-market economies, such as Brazil, Russia, India, or China. Of those, Russia is certainly the largest in terms of landmass, but it ranks only 11th in terms of worldwide gross domestic product (GDP)--well behind China (second) and India (sixth), and just ahead of Brazil (12th). While the U.S. ranks as the world's largest economy with a GDP of $23 trillion, Russia's nominal GDP comes in at $1.78 trillion. Russia is another country with high disparities. According to Forbes' 2016 ranking of 25 highest-paid Russian CEOs, annual payment averaged $6.1 million. If measured against Russia's average annual wage of $8,040, they appear to match this amount in their earnings in half a day (0.46).
